This African Blue Lily won’t leave you feeling blue with its spectacular umbels of violet flowers, patterned with a darker stripe. What’s more, the Agapanthus ‘Jacaranda’ is one of the first hardy perennials of its kind to bloom, so will add a dramatic splash of colour to sunny borders from June onwards. Even when surrounded by other plants, it doesn’t have to fight for attention: its thick, vertical stems ensure that its flowers rise above the competition throughout July and August. Not to be outdone, Agapanthus ‘Jacaranda’ has semi-evergreen, clumping foliage, so provides first-rate ground cover all year round. Height: 90cm (2’11”); Spread: 50cm (1’8″).

Plant Agapanthus in a sunny position in moist, well drained soil. Water well to settle the soil. Alternatively, grow Agapanthus in containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3 and position in full sun.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural qualities until they become blackened by frost. Border grown plants will benefit from the winter protection of an autumn mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost. Container grown Agapanthus plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter.
