Rodgersia plants thrive in sun or dappled shade, on rich, moist, well-drained soil. It is worth protecting the young foliage as it may be susceptible to slug damage.
Cut back the old foliage in autumn and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Rodgersia in spring.
