Veronica spicata ‘Royal Candles’ looks very regal at the front of a garden border where it will produce a seemingly endless delight of deep indigo blue flower spikes. This indispensible hardy perennial has a useful spreading habit which makes it perfect as an attractive groundcover and it looks very effective in mass-planting schemes too. The mid-green foliage of this dwarf spike speedwell produces its beautiful blue flowers in early summer and they last for many weeks. Trim with shears or dead head regularly for prolonged flowering. Veronica likes a sunny or partially shaded position in a free-draining soil and makes a great edging plant for the garden. Height :30cm (12″). Spread: 30cm (12″).

Grow Veronica in a sunny or semi shaded position in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Veronica prefers a fertile, humous rich soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded veronica flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut back old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
